Wellington STEM Fair

The Wellington STEM Fair is one week away on March 3, 2026 from 5:30-7:30pm! This is an opportunity for students to display and present projects completed at home. Didn’t do a project? No problem, everyone is invited to look at the projects plus experience and participate in fun STEM activities here in our very own gym! 

How to Participate:

1. ASK A QUESTION

What makes it go POP? Can plants talk? Visit sciencebuddies.org for more inspiration. 

2. TEST IT

Design your experiment and try it out. Take photos of your investigation.

3. SHARE WHAT YOU LEARNED

Create a poster to display your findings at the STEM Fair.

REGISTRATION DETAILS:
  • Register to participate in the STEM Fair by Friday, Feb 20th. 
  • The first 50 students who register will receive a free tri-fold display board for their project.
  • Please fill out a separate registration form for each student you are registering.
STEM FAIR DETAILS:
  • The STEM FAIR is on Tues, Mar 3, 2026 from 5:30-7:30pm in the Wellington Elementary Gym
  • All display boards will be brought to school by Mon, Mar 2, 2024 by 4:15pm. 
  • Each student will have approximately 2' x 3' table space for their board and additional supplies.
Students will complete their projects at home. This STEM Fair is a student showcase of curiosity and experimentations; therefore, submissions will not be judged. Each participating student will receive a token of recognition for their hard work and creativity.
 
COME PARTICIPATE IN THE EGG DROP:
Test your engineering skills by making a device to protect an egg from a big drop! The eggs will be dropped during the STEM Fair. This project can be done at home in advance of the STEM Fair or the student can create their device at the STEM Fair.
 
Objective:
Create a device that will protect an egg from a fall.
 
Rules:
1. The egg cannot be covered in tape.
2. The device cannot be larger than a basketball.
3. The egg must be uncooked.
4. One egg per student.
 
Suggested Supplies*:
  • Paper scraps
  • Coffee filters
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Bubble wrap
  • Egg carton
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Yarn/string
  • Rubber bands
  • Marshmallows
  • Cardboard
  • Newspaper
  • Paper bags

*If you would like to donate supplies to use at the STEM Fair, place items in the bin outside the office by March 1-thank you!
